When summer heat hits, I am ALL about watermelon!

It is one of my all-time favorite summer fruits.

Give it to me in chunks with a fork…

Or give it to me as a sliced wedge, and I will dive in sans fork!

My mother used to put salt on her watermelon, and, as a child, I couldn’t understand why!

As an adult, I get it now…the wonderful combination of sweet and salty…oh yum!

And there is more summer flavor to add…

How about a honey lime dressing, feta cheese, and fresh mint?

Why This Watermelon Berry Fruit Salad is a Must-Make

There are plenty of fruit salads out there, but this isn’t your usual fruit salad. The combination of ripe watermelon, fresh berries, and tangy lime juice is like a burst of sunshine on a plate.

Plus, the simple honey lime dressing adds a touch of sweetness with just a little honey and a punch of lime zest for that fresh, zesty kick. Toss in some fresh mint and creamy feta cheese, and you’ve got a salad that’s bright, refreshing, and oh-so-satisfying.

I love how easy this recipe is to put together, especially since it doesn’t require any cooking — just a sharp knife, a large bowl, and a bit of chopping.

If you want to get fancy, use a melon baller to scoop out perfect little watermelon balls instead of cubes.

Either way, this salad always makes for a stunning presentation in a big serving bowl.

The Ingredients: Favorite Fruits for a Classic Summer Salad

This salad really shines when you use fresh watermelon that’s in season.

A good watermelon is juicy, sweet, and firm. Choose a watermelon that is round rather than oblong. Trust me, it will be sweeter!

And, if there is discoloration on the melon, choose one with a yellow patch rather than a white one. Again, sweeter!

Along with watermelon, you’ll add an array of fresh berries like strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, which are all wonderful peak-season fruits packed with flavor and nutrients.

For the dressing, all you need is fresh lime juice, a little honey, some olive oil, and a pinch of salt to bring it all together.

This tangy honey lime dressing complements the natural sweetness of the fruit beautifully without overpowering it. The fresh mint adds a burst of herbal freshness that’s one of my favorite ways to elevate any fruit salad.

Putting It All Together: A Simple Process for a Great Result

First, make the honey lime dressing so the flavors have time to mingle. Whisk together the honey, lime juice, lime zest, olive oil, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl to make the lime mint dressing.

Start by cutting your watermelon into cubes or using a melon baller to scoop out the flesh. Place your watermelon and the mixed berries into a large bowl.

Drizzle the dressing over the fruit and gently toss everything together to combine. The key here is to be gentle so the berries don’t get crushed.

Finally, sprinkle the crumbled feta cheese and torn fresh mint leaves on top of the salad for that perfect finishing touch.

Yum!

Storage Tip: If you need to prepare the salad ahead of time, store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a few hours. Just wait to add the feta and mint until you’re ready to serve so they stay fresh and vibrant.
