There are bucket list moments you plan for years…and then there are the ones that find you completely by surprise.

My QVC adventure was the latter, and I am still pinching myself!

Last week, I packed my bag in Nebraska and made the trip to Pennsylvania.

Entirely on my dime and entirely by choice.

Because when QVC says you can come share your love of a product you have used for years on live television, you say YES!

You say yes even if your hands are shaking a little.

You say yes even if you have no idea what you are getting yourself into.

And then you show up and discover it is one of the most magical experiences of your life!

So let me tell you all about it…

Lights, Camera, Action…Wait, Which Camera?

The moment my niece and I pulled up to that iconic QVC sign, I felt something shift.

I have been a QVC fan for years. Whether I am actively shopping for beauty products, fashion, or shoes, or just letting those familiar voices play in the background of my daily living, I know these hosts. I know these sets. I know these products.

Walking onto that set for the first time was, in one word…surreal.

But first, the green room.

MY green room.

With MY NAME ON THE DOOR.

And a star!

I know it was just a piece of paper. But I may have stood there for an embarrassingly long time just looking at it.

Before my first segment, the incredibly warm producer, Ilana, gave my niece and me a full behind-the- scenes tour of QVC. We saw every set, the culinary prep kitchens, the control rooms, and the prop storage space. (Oh, I could have spent HOURS in there!)

Along the way, she introduced us to what felt like everyone in the building. And I want you to know…

Every single person was genuinely kind and welcoming. It was not a performance. It was just the culture of the place. And it was beautiful!

Now, the first segment.

I will not sugarcoat it. I was nervous.

My eyes were watering (I blame the delicious Easter ham I ate the day before) which was doing absolutely nothing for my mascara.

And figuring out which camera to look at when those red lights come on? That is a skill set nobody warns you about!

But here is the thing about spending over 30 years of teaching choirs…eventually the nerves quiet down and the joy takes over. That is exactly what happened!

I finished my first segment with host John Battagliese, took a breath, and thought I was done for a while. A few minutes later, the product found me. They wanted me back on air.

Right away. No time to think. And just like that, the nerves were completely gone, and I was having the time of my life!

Repeat Performance

I appeared on three segments that day, including with hosts Ali Carr and legendary Jane Treacy. Each time felt more natural than the last.

By the end of the day, it felt less like a television appearance and more like a wonderful conversation with people who genuinely love what they do.

And then there was Cheryl, the Peter Thomas Roth beauty expert who stopped by my green room before my first segment and made sure I felt like a million dollars before I ever stepped on that set.

The whole day was a reminder that the age of possibility does not have an expiration date.
