The Ralph Lauren home look is everywhere!

From chic boutiques to discount stores to social media, the words “Ralph Lauren Christmas” are jumping off the page and the shelves!

My home doesn’t naturally have a Ralph Lauren look. It’s usually light, bright, and full of bold, vibrant colors, with abstract art around every corner.

But this year, I wanted to try something different: a Ralph Lauren Christmas feel for our living room.

I quickly realized it wasn’t about changing everything, but about careful planning and layering the right accessories.

Some might call this style simply “traditional.” But the Ralph Lauren vibe is a little moodier, a little bolder, and full of rich textures, classic patterns, and timeless elegance.

And here’s the kicker…you can make non-Christmas decor changes to add to what you already have in your collection of Christmas decorations!

With thoughtful planning and the right accessories, you can layer in that cozy, sophisticated Ralph Lauren Christmas aesthetic that feels both classic and fresh for your holiday season!

The Essence of Ralph Lauren Christmas Style

Let’s break it down…

A Ralph Lauren Christmas home blends the best of American heritage and English manor style.

Kind of like combining an episode of Yellowstone with an episode of Downton Abbey!

Timeless, classic, and layered with warmth.

It’s elegant but never stuffy.

 Refined but still comfortable.

I always think of rich color, classic pattern, and cozy textures…things that make me want to curl up and stay awhile!

Books covered with red plaid wrapping paper.

There’s a sense of history and storytelling in every detail.

Leather chairs remind me of my father’s rolltop desk.

Brass accents make me think of travel and curated decor collected over time.

And tartan plaids?  LOVE!

Incorporate these elements during the Christmas season and you’ll be singing Fa la la in the coziest room in the house!

It’s the mix of tailored sophistication and lived-in comfort that makes Ralph Lauren Christmas style so enduring and easy to love!

Layering Textures and Fabrics

Texture is what truly brings a Ralph Lauren Christmas home to life.

Mixing materials like wool, tweed, and velvet adds depth, warmth, and a sense of comfort throughout your space.

That burgundy throw blanket on the sofa? It is a fluffy faux fur that is so silky and cozy when reading a book. (And oh, think of the naps!)

The green curtains? They are sumptuous yet inexpensive velvet curtain panels that I will probably leave hanging long after the holidays finish. You can see them HERE.

Even smaller touches, like a leather-trimmed clock or a soft wool runner, help bring that sophisticated yet approachable feel.

Layering Christmas greenery is key. If one is good, three is great!

The key is layering thoughtfully…textures that invite you to linger, touch, and truly enjoy the space during the holiday season.

Patterns That Define the Look

No Ralph Lauren Christmas home is complete without classic plaid patterns and classic home decor!

There are a couple of timeless patterns that are classic to the Ralph Lauren look: plaid and houndstooth.

Tartan plaid has never really gone out of style, and it is accessible in everything from pillows and throws to Christmas wrapping paper and ribbons.

Houndstooth is a pattern that is often associated with the style of Ralph Lauren.

And while I am reveling in the fact that our houndstooth tile fireplace fits the RL bill, there are lots of ways to add a houndstooth pattern through pillows, throw blankets, Christmas wrap, and trims.

Wall Art Ideas for a Ralph Lauren Christmas

If you are fortunate to find Christmas-specific wall art in the style of Ralph Lauren, go for it!

I had some trouble finding such treasures.

Instead, I decided to switch out my wall art to artwork (that I think Ralph would love!) that can be surrounded by thick Christmas garland, saturated berry picks, and repurposed frames.

Ralph Lauren + deep, moody colors…sounds perfect, right?

Check out this old, damaged canvas that got a makeover simply by applying wallpaper over it! You can see this project HERE.

It is situated on top of the fireplace and grounded by Christmas greenery, garland, and brass home decor.

Ralph Lauren + horses…makes sense, right?

A set of these Horse prints from Amazon replaced framed abstract wallpaper. (One of my favorite wall art hacks!)

Ralph Lauren + classic artwork…we all have that lying around, right?

The bright green floral image does NOT say RL to me.

Actually, there is nothing in this photo that says Ralph Lauren Christmas!

But after a quick visit to the public domain page on the Metropolitan Museum of Art site, I was able to download this lovely lady (for FREE!) and have it printed locally.

The fact that she is sitting on a horse is a bonus!

If you would like to download and print this yourself, you can download it HERE.

But surrounded by simple greenery and red berries…Ralph Lauren Christmas!

The key is to stick to a cohesive color palette: deep reds, forest green, and navy. Stick to this palette so everything feels intentional and harmonious.

Designing a Ralph Lauren Christmas Tree

For my Ralph Lauren Christmas tree, I focused on layering classic colors, textures, and patterns to create a look that feels both elegant and approachable.

Velvet ornaments and ribbon are a great start in giving the Christmas tree a sense of depth and texture.

I combined ornaments in traditional red, blue, and green with a few vintage ornaments I’ve collected from thrift stores over the years.

And plaid ornaments are a fantastic touch of pattern that rolls right along the Ralph Lauren aesthetic.

Including clear glass ornaments and brass bells is a great idea, so the deep colors have a chance to reflect and shimmer.

Consider tucking sprigs of greenery and garland in shades of green for added depth and texture. This helps any artificial tree look like you just cut it down on your vast estate!

Pine cones, brass jingle bell picks, and velvet ribbon go a long way to bring in that signature Ralph Lauren Christmas aesthetic.

Every ornament, ribbon, and accent is placed thoughtfully, creating a tree that feels timeless, layered, and full of personality.

This approach keeps the tree festive and warm, perfectly embodying Ralph Lauren’s Christmas style for the holiday season.

Cozy Ralph Lauren Inspired Christmas Accents

You don’t have to redecorate your entire home to capture Ralph Lauren Christmas style. Small, thoughtful touches go a long way.

Don’t let this list overwhelm you. Incorporating even a few of these ideas can be transformational!

  • Swap out a few of your usual pillows with velvet pillows in solid deep hues. And don’t forget to tuck in a few in a tartan plaid!
  • Nutcrackers are a timeless Christmas accent that always add personality. Try a different approach and style some monochromatic wood nutcrackers with ornaments, small wreaths, and bows. Learn how to make these modern classic nutcrackers HERE.
  • Wrap books in plaid wrapping paper and tie a few together with a velvet bow. You can see how to cover books HERE.
  • Speaking of books…stack some vintage books and use them as a pedestal to feature a decorative item.

  • Avoid harsh overhead light. Instead, opt for softer, warmer lighting through lamps placed at different heights throughout the room.
  • Scatter vintage ornaments on side tables and shelves as a cohesive element to create cozy vignettes that feel intentional and inviting.

These accents, layered thoughtfully, help create a Ralph Lauren Christmas home that is elegant, layered, and full of personality—all while keeping the space cozy and approachable for the holiday season.

A Ralph Lauren-Inspired Christmas

The little details make all the difference in creating a Ralph Lauren Christmas home.

It’s these thoughtful touches that bring the entire holiday season together.

Whatever your home’s style, you can achieve that Ralph Lauren Christmas aesthetic with a little planning, the right accessories, and a focus on timeless patterns, textures, and colors.

Now, pardon me while I curl up by the fireplace in my Ralph Lauren-inspired Christmas living room!
